Why building with
makes so much sense... |
Imagine
a home that almost completely blocks noise from the outside; maintains a
stable temperature through R-50 insulated walls; holds up under severe weather
conditions or protects against fire; provides a fully functional basement
that feels like an upper story; and affords infinite design flexibility.

What
are insulated concrete forming systems (ICF's)?
ICF's are the basic building block for highly energy efficient and structurally
superior residential and commercial wall systems. The ICF consists of lightweight,
expanded polystyrene forms. Designed to be an integral part of the wall,
the forms stay in position after the concrete is placed. The insulating
capacity of expanded polystyrene coupled with the structural integrity of
reinforced concrete is a powerful combination. It makes ICF walls stronger,
safer, quieter and more energy efficient than conventional stick built structures.

Design Flexibility
Strength, and Energy Efficiency
- Strength and
Stability -- adding the structural integrity of reinforced concete,
ICF provides a waterproof barrier against severe weather and insect
damage.
- Fire Resistance
-- ICF walls are very fire resistant providing up to a 4 hour fire resistance
rating, increasing safety and reducing insurance premiums.
- Energy Efficiency
-- ICF walls can provide thermal performance values equivalent to R50
wood frame construction. This can translate to energy savings of up
to 70% and cutting air infiltration by 38%.
- Noise Reduction
-- ICF wall systems can be designed to meet your project's specific
acoustical needs; the polystyrene and concrete assembly means less outside
noise gets in, which translates to a 50 STC rating as compared to 33
for a wood framed home.
- Design Flexibility
-- polystyrene forms are easily cut to conform to irregular building
sites.
- An Extended
Building Season -- forms can be poured in subfreezing temperatures.
